The QTC Cup is run as part of Queensland Oaks Day and shares its program with the Group 1 Queensland Oaks, Group 2 Eagle Farm Cup, Group 2 Queensland Guineas, Listed Bright Shadow Quality, Listed The Phoenix, and Listed Spear Chief Handicap.

Horses that run in the QTC Cup have often come via races such as the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas, Listed Prime Minister’s Cup, Group 1 BTC Cup, Group 3 BRC Sprint, Group 1 Doomben 10,000,  or Listed Chief De Beers Quality. Those runners that perform well in the QTC Cup are then likely to go on to run in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap one week later, or the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara for fillies and mares in a fortnight’s time.
