2015 QTC Cup Tips and Betting Preview

Eight sprinters have been confirmed in the final field for Saturday’s Group 2 QTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben Racecourse; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.

Ball Of Muscle ($3.30) is yet to finish outside the first three over his impressive career so far and has maintained status as outright favourite in 2015 QTC Cup betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of stable mate Kuro ($3.40) and That’s A Good Idea ($4).

El Roca ($10)

El Roca undoubtedly offers the best value for money in 2015 QTC Cup betting markets and is more than worth consideration for a bet. A standout over the 2014 Autumn Carnvial, the Fastnet Rock entire won the Listed Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) first-up; running second to Terravista in the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) before finishing in the minors in both the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) and Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m). Having spent more than a year in the paddock, El Roca is sure to have taken priceless condition from a first-up appearance in the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) and will be partnered by Tommy Berry on Saturday.


Ball Of Muscle ($3.30)

Posting seven wins and five minors over his 12 career starts, Ball Of Muscle has returned in typically competitive form this time and is sure to receive a dream run from barrier 1. A standout for Joe Pride over summer, the full brother to Group 1 winner Tiger Tees finished second in the Listed Canterbury Classic (1200m) and returned for a brief spell after taking out the Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m) on January 9th. Weighted well at just 56.5kgs, Ball Of Muscle is primed to go one better than his most recent start for second in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m).


Kuro ($3.40)

Three-year-old Kuro carries winning form into the 2015 QTC Cup but has been charged with carrying 57kgs and may struggle slightly in open competition. Ending a strong spring campaign third in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m), the Denman colt ran third in the Listed Fireball Stakes (1100m) first-up this time before placing second in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) on March 21st. Having taken out the Listed Mick Dittman Plate (1200m) in his Queensland debut on May 9th, Kuro has the class for a top three finish in the QTC Cup.
