A talented and capacity field of sprinters has been confirmed in the final field for Saturday’s rescheduled 2016 Group 2 QTC Cup (1200m) at Eagle Farm Racecourse; offering punters exceptional value from a betting perspective and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Spill The Beans remains an outright $6 favourite in 2016 QTC Cup betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Godolphin runner Federal and Target In Sight; currently sharing the second line at generous $7 quote.
Will Spill The Beans justify favouritism and win the 2016 QTC Cup, or will one of his many talented rivals find the line in the clear?
Target In Sight ($7)
Veteran sprinter Target In Sight should be well-suited to the Eagle Farm conditions on Saturday, will leave from the rails draw with James McDonald aboard and is more than worth consideration at current $7 QTC Cup odds for success. Posting eight wins and a further nine minors through twenty-seven career starts, the Nadeem gelding resumed this time for second in the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes (1200m) on March 26th; progressing to fifth in the Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) before running sixth in the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) most recently on May 14th.
Stratum Star ($11)
Group 1 winner Stratum Star has been charged with carrying a race-high 59kgs, but could very well receive the run of the race in the QTC Cup from barrier 3 and will be partnered by in-form hoop Brad Rawiller. Resuming this time for seventh Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m), the Stratum entire progressed to second in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) before placing third in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) on March 12th. Running sixth in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m), Stratum Star clearly required a run when failing to beat a single runner home in the BTC Cup but is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from the performance.
Classy mare Eloping has returned to racing in typically slick form this time but has been charged with overcoming the wide and reasonably awkward barrier 15 in the QTC Cup and will undoubtedly require luck in running. A multiple stakes winner through an impressive racing career, the daughter of Choisir ran second in the Driefontein Quality (1200m) and fifth in the Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Quality (1300m) during a brief summer campaign; returning this time for an impressive win in the Listed Silk Stocking (1200m) on the Gold Coast on May 7th.
